AEMT Codes of Practice

AEMT – A New Chapter

AEMT Visit to BAWCo

Recently, Scott Haslam, AEMT, visited our workshop in Bradford to meet the team and update us on the brilliant new initiatives and improvements the AEMT has planned.

During this visit, Scott met with the BAWCo team, including our workshop manager, Jack, whom he couldn’t speak highly enough about:

“Thanks for your time last Friday, really great team, I think Jack is a real star, and the team you have on the shop floor are brilliant!”

In our discussion, he also praised and pushed us to enter award events for our apprenticeship program, powering the next generation of engineers and how we manage to maintain nearly all of our apprentices after course completion – A testament to the environment we provide.

Initiatives and Updates from our Collaboration:

BAWCo – AEMT Codes of Practice Compliant

Since this visit, BAWCo has also achieved ‘Compliant Status’ with AEMT’s new Codes of Practice scheme. A member-led initiative designed to set a benchmark for service facilities, ensuring companies operate with high levels of quality, safety, and technical integrity.

Training Courses and Apprenticeship Days, which 2 of our apprentices have already attended at Westin Drives. We now look forward to attending more in the future, along with additional training sessions that support our engineers’ skills development, pushing them above the industry standard.

Networking Events set up by the AEMT aim to provide a useful platform for engaging with other professionals in the electromechanical industry, encouraging knowledge sharing, discussions of current challenges with possible solutions, and the development of connections to help better serve customers.

Upcoming Conferences, such as the Concorde conference in September, which Jack will be attending.

Background
The AEMT Concorde conference in Manchester will allow BAWCo to network with like-minded companies across the UK. Sharing knowledge and expertise to improve our services, relationships, and to keep up to date on the latest innovations in the electromechanical sector.

The Concorde Conference hosted by the AEMT

The backdrop of this event will be the Concorde, a supersonic passenger airliner that achieved cruising speeds of twice the speed of sound. Capable of travelling across the Atlantic (London to New York) in under 3.5 hours.
These planes operated from 1976 to 2003, but were ultimately retired due to rising maintenance costs, low passenger numbers following an unfortunate crash caused by runway debris on the 25th July 2000 and a slump in air travel after the September 11 attacks.
